Many people ask . . . who is Jimmy & Joan? Well, Jimmy was my father, he was my hero and the man who loved me selflessly from the day I was born. Joan was his twin sister and my beautiful aunt. Born and raised in NYC. I decided to do this project as a love letter dedicated to my Father, Mother, Aunt, Brother, my Son, my friends, NYC, my home for so long and the city I now call home Gothenburg.
The bagels are a memory of Sunday trips in the morning with my dad to get bagels for our standing Sunday brunch . . . it was a special father daughter time of us, sharing a love of food, smelling the fresh baked bagels, picking the assorted flavors, schmears and smoked fish.
The Jimmy & Joan’s interiors where all done by me and a passion I shared with my mother who I lost when I was just 17; the signature navy walls were the color in my childhood living room/dining room. The section on the menu called Charlottes Sweet spot are all my mothers recipes. When you eat her cheesecake, it is like a hug from heaven.
The service, above and beyond was from my Aunt Joan, who was so friendly and really liked to make people feel welcome.
Not long ago I lost my beautiful father Jimmy, but everyday I walk in my little shop, with a feeling of family surrounding me. ❤️
